Boasting a garden and views of mountain, Ella Treehouse is a recently renovated guest house situated in Ella, 6.2 km from Demodara Nine Arch Bridge. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay.

Overnight in the jungle

On our tour through the highlands of Sri Lanka Barbara from Jungle Beach Camp Ahungalla recommended the Treehouse in Ella for two nights. We weren't disappointed. The owner-run house has a unique ambience. The rooms and bathrooms are simple but clean and designed with great attention to detail. Owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. We had the opportunity to attend a cooking class with the owner's mother in typical cuisine, which left lasting impressions on us. Unforgotten also the terraces with the monkeys turning around in the surrounding trees. If one wants to find a negative point, one can only mention the street noise from the early morning, which resounds from the opposite side of the mountain. A circumstance for which the owner is not responsible.

Great family homestay

We really enjoyed our stay at the Ella Treehouse with Damith and his family. The homestay is away from the town centre which makes it a very quiet and peaceful place. We had the room right at the very top of the jackfruit tree which had huge picture windows. Thuds on the roof early in the morning indicated the arrival of the grey langurs and macaques which delighted my 4 year old grandson. The Sri Lankan breakfasts were generous and delicious. Our cookery class with Amma was interesting and fun and a few hours later everyone enjoyed the meal we had helped to prepare. We felt very welcomed by the family and staff and Damith helped arrange all our transport including a visit the Amber Tea Estate which is highly recommended. Thank you to everyone and we hope to come back again.

Wonderful tree top stay

We enjoyed a wonderful 2 night stay here. These treehouses are nestled high up within lush greenery, which means that you’re literally living alongside fantastic Sri Lankan wildlife. Monkeys doing acrobatic routines, frogs croaking, exotic birds perching on branches and tree squirrels scampering. We even saw an eagle having a fight with a monkey! It’s a nature lover’s paradise and if you wanted to, you could just enjoy relaxing and wildlife spotting for the day.
The rooms are large and clean with mosquito nets, a little fridge and a huge balcony complete with chairs and a hammock.
The food provided (optional) is absolutely delicious and portions are extremely generous. Breakfast kept us going until supper time!
The staff are warm and welcoming and willing to help you out with anything (tuk tuks, storing luggage after check out time and special food requests made by our son).
Ella is a beautiful location with some fabulous treks and lots of bars and restaurants.

Amazing place to stay.

Thank you to Lasitha and your family and staff. We had an amazing stay with you. The Treehouse was very clean and well presented. The cooking evening was the highlight of my holiday, it was really informal and good fun. I learnt so much about your cuisine. We can’t thank you enough for organising my daughter’s AirPod that she left behind to be delivered to our next hotel.

The best and most beautiful stay we could have in Ella

We loved staying in the treehouses. We were two couples, and the accommodations were excellent, clean, and very comfortable. We stayed in two different houses, and both were beautiful with wonderful views, nestled in nature, for a truly local and peaceful experience. Damit and Lasitah helped us organize everything we needed; they were always very helpful and friendly. Their mother is an excellent cook and prepares delicious meals, and we even had the opportunity to take a cooking class, which was excellent. We loved everything, don't hesitate to book
