5 element hotel Gangotri

very good hotel for stay, staff very helpful, always willing to help. Food was delicious, would recommend for clients to stay. has best views of river flowing besides the hotel. All together 16 rooms, all decent and hygienic rooms

Shabby hotel - unhygienic

The lousiest hotel not worth the money.
Very unhygienic. Bathrooms infested with white ants.
Seepages in room
Kitchen very dirty. Won't Like having food. Mostly Parathas in breakfast.
They even charge for water bottles.
No provision for tea / coffee in room.
AC's not maintained. No cooling.
It seems owners are least interested in running it efficiently.
Very bad experience.

Horrific! A refuge calling itself a hotel

Uttarkashi is the nearest town to set off for the mostly dirt-track road leading to the source of the Ganges. It seems to be divided into 3 section: one on either side of a tunnel, and a third section on the other side of a bridge. This "hotel" is located in the most unattractive area of the 3. The excuse the agency gave for boarding us in this dump was that there was nothing else around. Maybe, maybe not. It supposedly exists to serve trekkers and pilgrims, the assumption being that neither of them are interested in comfort or cleaniliness,
There are no sheets on the beds unless you ask for them; the same goes for soap, towels, toilet paper ...; the blankets are filthy and smelly; the bathroom is rusty and dirty. The person on duty was unfriendly, unsmiling and responded to requests most begrudgingly.
The charge for the buffet dinner of curry, salad, rice, bread, bananas was 400 roupies, whereas 4 of us ate in a little streetfood eatery for 650 roupies altogether. Were they charging a special foreigners' rate?

5 Elements at Uttarkashi

We stayed here for two nights . The hotel outwardly looked better then most other in the vicinity . So we happily trotted in . The few boys there did all thejobs it seemed . They were very helpful and courteous. We had taken three rooms with double occupancy. Spacious rooms . However the toilets were dirty and after repeated requests they did clean. But the drainage of one room was clogged and it was impossible to use . So they promised to change the room the next day . All the 3 rooms were changed. But this room that i had emitted a terrible odour when used . Hot water is available only in the early hours . When I went to shower there was only cold water and so I decided to skip !
Food was simple . Breakfast was either parata ir bread and butter . They were very kind enough to provide us early breakfast when we had to leave early .
The elderly owner was around and trying to keep things in order . Good attempt. But we were happy to leave the place

Nice hotel in a place like uttarkashi

I didnt expected much facility and hospitality from uttarkashi. I stayed 2 nights in this hotel and found it very good. Booked one 5 bed family room and one double bed room. Rooms were clean and neat. Washroom was clean but not upto the mark. Needed bit maintenance. Staff was polite and service was quick. View of bhagirathi dam and uttarkashi city was great. They have restaurant on top floor. Buffet was nice. Limited items but good to taste.
Check-in and check-out process was smooth. They have nice parking area and space for drivers.
Overall a nice experience and recommendable hotel.
