Fantastic house and location
Stayed here for 3 nights. Very clean and well furnished. Good air con and powerful warm shower. Great location, 5 mins walk from centre of town with great local restaurants near by. Clean towels delivered every day. Highly recommended

Lovely room and location... shame about the bed bugs
We were pleasantly surprised by the location and quality of the double room we had booked and were looking forward to this being our base for a couple of days. However, as we settled down to go to sleep we noticed some bugs crawling on the bed. Having experienced these bugs in a previous holiday rental, we knew straight away what they were... bed bugs. We immediately notified the owner who came to the guesthouse, but refused to acknowledge that there was a problem. I rarely write reviews, but knowing how quickly this issue can spread we want to warn others and encourage the owner to address the infestation. Luckily we got our money back, but we were forced to look for somewhere else to stay at 10pm on our first night.

Great location, avoid the room with the balcony if you are tall
The location is perfect for exploring Split. It is in old town so you should expect a short walk from your taxi drop off point. The location is not staffed so be sure to provide them an accurate arrival time and keep them updated. I forgot to notify them when our transport plans changed (decided to take a car service from Dubrovnik instead of the catamaran) & we caused confusion and a last minute rush. They were nice about it & sent someone over but we had to wait & they had to change plans at the last minute. The person that met us spoke perfect english and was very nice. He provided great restaurant recommendations.
I messed up when I picked this room as I really wanted the balcony. This is a very small balcony that is too bright/hot for early morning and not a great view or breeze in the evening. The biggest issue was the room had sloped ceiling and we are fairly tall. I should have gone with a different room and not worried about the balcony. Also, there is no closet or dresser in the room - I wound up with my suitcase in an area that is about 4 feet high and had to sit on the floor to get to my clothes.
The room itself is clean and modern. The air conditioner worked fine and the wifi was strong. The TV is smart & we were able to login to netflix and stream a movie one night.
Like all the places we stayed in Croatia, the room is not serviced each day and did not have shampoo or bath soap.
Overall, I'm pleased with the guest house but will look out for sloped ceilings in the future.

Great location to explore Split for a short stay
We only stayed for one night at Guest House Stagnja and it provided exactly what we needed. It is in a very good location to explore Split on foot, although you must be able bodied to get around as it is not accessible by car and requires a 2 minute walk down the narrow cobbled path to get there. The apartment we had was very nice, providing everything you need for a short stay. I am not sure about a longer stay as it was quite small and you probably wouldn't want to spend much time in the room. Overall it was very good and very reasonably priced and I would recommend for a visit to Split.

Perfect for exploring Split
This is in a great location for exploring Split. The apartments are about 100m, up a slight incline, from the main plazas. We walked, pulling luggage, from the ferry, bus and train terminals at the other end of town with no problem as the seafront pavement is very flat. If you are in the Palace and forget something you can easily walk back in 5 minutes. There are also quite a number of restaurants and bakeries within 50m. The area is quiet and away from the traffic although because the residences are so close together you can sometimes hear the neighbours shouting. The area seemed very safe although parking is difficult or impossible. The downside is that the room was small and, although light with a window at either end, there is no view apart from the walls of other properties (note that the booking notice stated "garden view"). We had the Queen Studio on the 1st floor. The owner met us at the door, although he lives elsewhere, and was very helpful without being intrusive. Cleaning is done regularly and is spotless. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we slept well. There is a hob but no oven or microwave. Everything looks modern and new. Also a 2 seat settee and a table and chairs. I think it would be difficult to cook there but we had breakfast and a cold lunch. The shower room is quite small but modern. The water boiler has a large blue light which floods the bedroom through the transparent glass door at night. We therefore switched this on only during the day. Because there is no view it is best used as a base rather than spending long periods there but the wifi works well. Overall nothing to criticise but if you are expecting a view of the harbour try somewhere else. The cost is also very reasonable and we would return.
