The best hotel ever - a home from home.
This is possibly the easiest review I've ever had to write because this is definitely, by far and a way, the best hotel I've ever stayed abroad or in the UK.
Why is that?
Easy. The people who run this hotel. Vasilli, Manolli, Nova plus Amanda and Maria on cleaning run this place to a tea. And nothing is too much trouble for them. My parents have been coming here for 18 years and after this week I can see why.
Let's get into the nitty gritty first. I stayed in room 7 on the ground floor. Don't expect the Ritz. The rooms are clean and basic. But this is a two star hotel and they go above and beyond two stars in the room alone. Your room is cleaned daily and even your pyjamas are nearly folded for you (except Sundays). You're provided with basic toiletries (added bonus) and a really useful folder with information on the hotel and resort. Do read it - it contains valuable info! My mattress was hard and firm - this is ideal for me but is not for everyone but if it's not speak to the wonderful Nova who will instantly sort you out a mattress topper. More later about her - she is a shining star!
The pool is gorgeous, I saw Manolli and Vasilli maintaining it daily. I think I set my apple watch to 16m and it tracked my swims fairly accurately. The pool bar serves bar snacks between 12 and 4 (3 on a Sunday) and I had the Egg, chips and cheesy mayo - it's to die for!
The bar obviously serves the usual array of beers, soft drinks and even a cider! The cocktail menu is amazing. Try the Passionfruit Surprise. I also had the peach daiquiri. Both beautiful drinks.
Breakfasts are served every morning from 8am and Nova shines. Absolute amazing selection of cold meats, cheeses, cereals, fruits, yoghuts, cakes - you name it she's got it! Teas, coffees and juices too. And eggs done to how you like them (not poached). Fried, scrambled, omelettes - you're in eggy heaven.
On Saturday nights there is a BBQ for €22.50. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know everyone at the hotel. Throughout the year there's plenty of regulars and they're all friendly but if you go in late July-late September seek out Jolele. She is basically Hotel Sofias unofficial info guide and will give you so much info about what to see and do, not only in Kambos but on the island too.
And I've never gone to bed smiling so much after an evening at the bar with Vasilli. He's a great character and you can tell this hotel means the world to him. The original hotel owners, his parents Stavros and Sofia can still be seen about and they are both wonderful people.
I only stayed for 7 days but wished it was longer and that's down down the amazing team.
Tips - book direct with Hotel Sofia for best rates and for the air conditioning added in (a must!)

There is a section in reception where guests have left behind unneeded items like beach shoes, toiletries, kettles and plugs. Check this out.

A little gem with the most wonderful team
What an absolutely wonderful stay we have had at Hotel Sofia. This beautiful hotel has given us one of the most relaxing and memorable holidays we've ever experienced.
The staff are simply beautiful people—kind, genuine, caring, and always smiling. They made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, and nothing was ever too much trouble.
A very special thank you to Mannoli, Vasillis, Nova and Amanda. Each of you played such a big part in making our holiday so special. Your warmth, friendship and incredible hospitality will stay with us for a very long time.
The hotel itself is immaculate, peaceful and perfectly situated, creating the ideal place to unwind and enjoy everything that beautiful Marathokampos has to offer.
We are people who love exploring new places and rarely return to the same destination twice. However, Hotel Sofia has completely changed that. We will definitely be booking again for next year—and this time for an even longer stay!

Fantastic
What a wonderful week we had thanks to the kindness and hospitality of the people on Samos and the family of Hotel Sofia.
A beautiful pool, animals that were well cared for and then breakfast......Fresh fruit, choose how you want your eggs and every day a different homemade cake, cookie!
The location is near the beach and within walking distance of the village with nice restaurants and a few shops.
The rooms are cleaned excellently and we understood that the bathrooms will be renovated in the coming years. Now the shower floor sometimes got wet, but was no problem for us.

Authentic Family Run Hotel!
Stayed for 2 weeks at this superb family run hotel. Food and service are both excellent and the family are very welcoming. Spotlessly clean and excellent location. Rooms are very basic but comfortable (hence 4 stars rather than 5). Would definitely recommend. Thanks to Nova for her help and advice about places to visit on the island.

Exceptional hosts
Spent 2 weeks at this fabulous hotel. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. We were treated like royalty. Nova the owner is exceptional, always smiling , ask for a cushion for sunbed it's there in 5 minutes. Bed not too your liking, mattress topper straight away . Breakfast , plenty of choice, eggs, boiled, scrambled, omelette, cakes, fruit, pancakes.
Even gave me some pain relief cream for my aches and pains.
Amanda and Maria , kept the room sparkling and were lovely women . Would definitely go again . Love to you all
