Charming room, very well located in the center of Saint Aignan and close to the Beauval zoo.
Several emails, messages, or WhatsApps before our arrival to give us directions.
The bedding is very good. And a fan is provided (very appreciated in this heat).

I recommend this accommodation; you can go there with complete confidence.
Very good location close to all amenities (a bar for your little coffee, a bakery for your little croissant).
Welcoming room (a nice bonus is the microwave available and the very clean bathroom).
A small kettle and tea available; this thoughtful gesture is always appreciated.
Perfect for a single person or even for two; I recommend it.

False advertising - Stay away!!!
On the Maison du Châtelain website, it is written in black and white: By booking directly, you enjoy a series of exclusive benefits reserved for our direct members. Among the benefits cited: The drinks in the minibar are complimentary + Enjoy preferential rates on breakfast $8 adult (instead of $9.5). I therefore book directly on the site. As soon as the reservation is made, I receive a message with a link to order breakfasts from a provider whose prices are much higher. I therefore call the hotel to get explanations. The person on the other end of the line answers me that they do not offer breakfast. I point out to her that it is written on the site, however. They obviously know it but leave this mention on their site. Not being happy, I indicate that I will probably cancel. Being close to my stay and finding nothing else, I end up keeping my reservation. On the big day, we arrive at the hotel. We look for the minibar with the complimentary drinks. We do not find it. I call back, therefore, since there is no front desk. After 5 calls, the same person as the other day picks up. I explain my problem to her and she recognizes me. She explains to me that there is no minibar, contrary to what is promised. And on top of that, she's criticizing me. She tells me that I was supposed to cancel. And she tells me that during my first call, I didn't ask if there was indeed a minibar. So it's my fault: I should have asked...!!! Unbelievable!!! Of course, a report will be made to the DGCCRF since they are leaving false advertising on their site. Besides, it's still there. Aside from these inconveniences, the list of other problems is long: there is a refrigerator that was turned off when we arrived. We turned it on. The next morning, the inside was still just as warm. In the bathroom, the towel hook is coming off the wall because the anchors aren't holding. In the shower, the hose is leaking. Throughout the suite, it is extremely hot (2nd floor under the roof). There is only a noisy portable air conditioner in the master bedroom. On the street, right next door, there is a sort of banquet hall with an organized meal and music all night long that we could hear loudly even with the windows closed.

Wished I was staying longer
I was warmly greeted by Chantal on my arrival, and she couldn’t have been nicer. I was fortunate that a larger room than what I had booked had become available, so I was very comfortable, and wished I was staying more than one night. The breakfast at the nearby hotel was very nice, with a good variety of items to choose from. I didn't have a car, so I did have a problem finding somewhere to have dinner on a Sunday night. The closest restaurant was full when I got there around 7:30, and I wasn’t up to walking any further.

Shame on them
When we arrived, no one was there to welcome us. Just an intercom. without the code...
Another group of people arrived at the same time and also had no idea how to access the building.
The phone numbers provided were not responded.
Finally, one french men called us and let the other group know that they were booked at another location (kids happy to drag luggages on cobblestone streets) and for us, it was worse: they simply overbooked the room and since we arrived last, the room we had paid for through a 3rd party (Hi Captain Obvious) was no more... No apologies, except maybe for his booking management software.
Was blamed for not having reached out to them in advance.
The guy said that the phone number provided by the 3rd party was not working.
I contacted the 3rd party for a full refund (which I got) and a compensation (which i got as well) and they were not aware of the hotel decision to dump me.
I guess that french guy was not honest.
I am glad I am fluent in french, one complete stranger would have had a hard time.
Finally, there is no parking on site. You have to drag your luggage at least one block.
