Relaxing Paradise
We had a lovely relaxing time at Serenity Sands. I love the fact that it is as environmentally sound as it can be in all ways possible. I owned a hotel in Ontario Canada for 14 years so I know how difficult it can be to run this type of business. The rooms are beautiful with all that lovely Hardwood and extremely well appointed and clean. Walking the grounds every morning, listening to the birds, swimming in both the Sea and the pool relaxed us all immediately. Penny and Her employees could not be more thoughtful about tending to our needs. I would highly recommend staying here. It's a tiny drive out of town but well worth it to relax in such a beautiful location and nice fresh air.

Take me back to Serenity Sands
Serenity Sands is a wonderful B&B, close enough to have access to all Corozal and Chetumal have to offer but secure, private, and quiet. We woke up to parrots and birds im the morning, spent afternoons in Corozal Bay relaxing in the water which is accessible from their private beach. It was a birthday week for me and the proprietor arranged a home made cake and decorated the suite while we were out. It was truly a lovely experience. Affordable, comfortable, safe, and beautiful.

Peaceful oasis outside of Corozal town
Serenity Sands is the place to stay near Corozal for anyone who enjoys a peaceful and beautiful environment with hosts who love what they do and who share their love of Belize and its culture with their guests.
Yes, it is a drive down a bumpy road outside of town, but Penny is happy to arrange transport to and from town and set up tours to local cultural and tourist activities.
The grounds are peaceful, the house and rooms are more impressive and comfortable than the photos indicate, and there are many places around the property to enjoy the view of the water and the lovely gardens.
We will return here any time we come to northern Belize.

Serenity Sands. . . An Incredible Place that has Enriched My Life
Words cannot do justice to this simply magical place, and I will never be able to do justice to the kindness and hospitality that mother-daughter team Penny & Jill gave to me.
I could recount the amenities, the delectable Vegan treats, the pristine condition of the property, the serene, meditative space that it is. But rather than do that, I would like to share my heartfelt, personal experience with Serenity Sands and with Owner, Penny.
My Dad retired to Belize in 2015, and Dad lived in a home 3 properties down from Serenity Sands. Dad died just over a year ago. And for the past year, I have been settling Dad's estate and working on bringing Dad's dogs back to the US. This has required no less than 6 trips to Belize, and each time, I have stayed at Serenity Sands. Staying in Dad's home was just too emotionally charged for me.
I needed a place. I needed a space. Beautiful. Calming. Relaxing. A place with air conditioning. A place that would cradle me and offer me peace after long , hot days working at Dad's, sorting through family memorabilia. A haven at which to find calm after driving across the country, time-and-time-again, to take the dogs to vet appointments and requirements to international travel.
In a word, I needed, "Serenity." Serenity for my heart.
And that is exactly what Serenity Sands has been to me over the past year.
Penny and Jill have become fast friends. But for the prospective traveler, let me give you some tangible "travel-oriented" aspects that Penny and Jill exhibit on each and every stay I have here.
First, speed of service. I have had to book travel and stays on a moment's notice with requirements for the dogs. Within hours, Penny will message me back directly on WhatsApp. This makes me feel secure. And it takes something off my plate. It removes one bit of insecurity knowing that I have a SAFE, CLEAN BEAUTIFUL place at which I can stay.
Local Recommendations. During this journey, I have needed QUALITY, RELIABLE local tips to assist with settling out a deceased person's estate in a foreign country. Be it the Notary that she referred me to, available on a weekend, to trustworthy vehicle repair shop to excellent restaurants for a delicious end to a day, Penny has been spot-on each and every time.
I can TRUST her recommendations. I can TRUST her.
Third, high-quality accommodations. Because most of my trips have been "work" focused either on requirements for the estate settlement or for the dogs' international travel, I have needed certain RELIABLE things. High-quality, fast wifi. Serenity Sands offers that.
Healthy breakfast to start the day. Serenity Sands offers that. Good cellular connection for phone calls. Serenity Sands offers that. Communal areas for sitting, working, playing games, meeting friends. Serenity Sands offers that. A lovely pool for meditation and relaxation after long days, yes, Serenity Sands offers that, too. Wonderful air conditioning in a hot, humid environment. My room at Serenity Sands has always been a haven where I can relax and fall asleep in the perfect temperature room, on a super comfortable mattress and in lovely, high-quality sheets.
Dad always described this amazing "Vegan Resort" right down the street from Dad's place. My girlfriend is Vegan, and she has joined me on a few of these trips. Each morning, Penny precisely slices fresh pieces of local area fruit. She pairs this with homemade muffins made daily. Each new muffin she presents (each day she bakes a different flavor) seems even more delectable than the last.
Personal recommendation: the lime muffins with toasted coconut toppings!
And if you are a person into farm-to-table, well, stroll around the property's acreage, and you'll see that much of the fruit and veggies that Penny uses for her cooking, she grows right on the property amidst the coconut-lined drive.
The property has beach access. And when I have needed a safe place to cry, to mourn the loss of my father and to find peace in the crazy Western World in which I live, I'll lie in the hammock and find serenity listening to the breeze blow through the trees and the water from the Bay gently lap onto the property's shoreline.
Even adventurers will love Serenity Sands: they have kayaks and stand-up paddle boards on site. Their staff enjoys chatting and sharing the beautiful Belizean culture. Nidia is a true gem and has turned me on to local events in town that have enriched my life. If you're looking for off-site adventures, Penny & Jill facilitate those seamlessly as well.
Yes: I am blessed to call Penny and Jill friends.
But I'm writing this review because Serenity Sands has helped me survive my grief and the emotional turmoil after the death of a beloved family member. And I am confident that the traveler, most likely exploring the area on vacation, will find even more enjoyment and pleasure from this incredible property, moreso than I have been able, being unhindered by "requirements" and "to-do" lists.
My heart is happy when I think of Serenity Sands, Penny, Jill, Nidia and Efrain.

Quiet place to relax
We stayed in Serenity Sands guest house, which was comfortable for our family of four. Penny was a gracious host and we were grateful to have use of kayaks and a washing machine. We liked seeing the off grid renewable energy systems and garden. Our only heads up for guests is that it’s ~10 min north of town on a bumpy dirt road and there were a lot of mosquitoes in the rainy season. The pool and bay were bug free during the day and the house had good screens. Corozal is not a big tourist place outside of resorts, so it was quiet and had excellent food!
