Surrounded by a Mediterranean garden, this 4-star hotel in Ascona is only 70 metres from Lake Maggiore. It offers a heated outdoor pool, free bicycle hire, and free WiFi.

Exceptional personal service and a suite we will remember
My wife and I stayed at Hotel Ascovilla for two nights in July 2026, and this was one of the most relaxing and genuinely luxurious hotel stays we have had for a long time.
We stayed in Suite 303, which is among the finest hotel rooms we have experienced anywhere. The attached photographs give a fair impression of its generous size: a separate sitting room, a large bedroom, two bathrooms and an enormous private terrace with a table, chairs and sun loungers. The bed was exceptionally large and comfortable, and we slept extremely well on both nights. The air conditioning was effective and easy to control, everything was spotlessly clean, and the suite was refreshed and prepared again each evening.
The personal service is what truly distinguishes Hotel Ascovilla from most other four-star hotels we have visited. Britta at reception deserves a special mention. She welcomed us with a warm smile and immediately made us feel both seen and genuinely valued as guests. That same sincere and attentive service continued throughout our stay. Staff members like this turn a good hotel visit into something much more memorable.
The garden and pool area was a peaceful oasis, with mature trees, attractive planting and plenty of sun loungers. We particularly appreciated being able to order drinks from the bar and have them served beside the pool.
Breakfast offered a broad selection and was especially pleasant when served in the garden outside the breakfast room. The hotel is situated in a quiet and upmarket area, yet the centre of Ascona is only a few minutes away on foot. On-site parking was another practical advantage.
What could be improved: A few more hot dishes would have strengthened the breakfast selection. We also had dinner at the hotel on our first evening, but the quality of the food did not quite justify the relatively high price, and the restaurant service was not at the same level as the service elsewhere in the hotel.
Final verdict: A clear 5/5 stay. Hotel Ascovilla is not inexpensive, but the outstanding suite, beautiful surroundings and exceptionally personal service made it worth the price. We felt very welcome and well looked after, and we would return without hesitation.
If you go: Ask for a room facing the garden and pool. If your budget allows, a suite is well worth considering. This is also a hotel where it makes sense to stay for several days rather than simply passing through.

Very nice hotel, excellent room, clean
We stayed three nights at the Ascovilla. Our room was very good quality with a comfortable bed and nice bedding. It was scrupulously clean. We had a bathroom with a walk-in shower. There was a very good amount of closet space and storage. The staff at the desk were so helpful, friendly and kind. The breakfast was very nice. I asked for an additional pillow and it arrived just moments later.
There is an underground parking garage for a fee. The driveway to the garage is somewhat narrow, we had an SUV and it was fine but I wouldn’t want to drive a larger vehicle down there personally. Also, it took us a minute to realize the key lock for the garage is at the top of the driveway.
The lakeside promenade is about a two block walk where there are lots of restaurants and shops. It was nice to have warm weather so we could have dinner while seated lakeside.

Great hotel, great stay
Very nice hotel well located quiet and super clean. Superb garden very well maintained. The staff is lovely. The food is excellent. We are delighted to have chosen this hotel that we did not know.

A memorable summer vacation in Ascona
Hotel Ascovilla is a great place to enjoy summer vacation days in Ascona. Perfectly located a short distance from city centre and a slightly longer one from the beach near Lago Maggiore, it offers a great breakfast, attentive reception and assistance in filling out forms for transport discounts. Air-conditioned rooms are spacious and were kept sparkling clean throughout our stay. Bikes available on demand (free of charge). It was our second stay there and I would definitely recommend Ascovilla to other families and couples alike.
