Excellent cuisine, but unacceptable customer service, dated furnishings, and poor transparency regarding the rooms.
Unfortunately, however, the sore point concerns the comfort of the room and the customer service, which are completely not up to the standard of a 4-star hotel (in the face of a stay costing over €2,000).
The furnishings in the rooms are dated and the beds and pillows are truly terrible, extremely hard and uncomfortable. Furthermore, for the first few days, the air conditioning blasted at maximum made us suffer from the cold. When we asked for help at midnight at the reception, we were told to wait until the next day; seeing no one, we had to go back ourselves to follow up, and the "solution" was to give us a key to open the circuit breaker box ourselves and flip the safety switch. Despite being very discreet people and not prone to complaining, we were patient without making a scene.
The real breaking point was the unfair reprimand received from the reception for alleged noise in the room. We were spending the evening with the utmost respect and in total tranquility.
The next day we discovered that the room (booked as an "Ideal Room" without any transparency during the booking or check-in process) had a connecting door to the adjacent room. With non-existent soundproofing, the reception preferred to issue a reprimand blindly based on the neighbor's complaint, without verifying where the disturbance was coming from.
In response to our formal complaint via email regarding the unfounded accusation and the lack of transparency about the room type, the Management did not even offer an official apology, making excuses and going so far as to throw the pool-view room from previous years in our faces (a service regularly requested and paid for down to the last cent).
The quality of customer service is measured when a problem occurs, and in this, the hotel failed this time. A nice setting and good food are not enough to compensate for the lack of respect toward long-time customers.
