Set near the Henne valley reservoir, this hotel in Meschede is located south of the Arnsberger Wald reserve, just 10 minutes from the towns of Arnsberg and Sundern.

Pretty

The hotel is very clean, friendly staff and you can really eat there in the evening. The modern rooms in the new building are out back and so you don't get anything from the busy road in front.
Breakfast we can not rate-we got our breakfast right next door at the bakery with the friendly saleswomen (then you have a bit of contact with locals). Nice bakery with solid breakfast.

Expensive rip-off.

Our room was clean and just OK, but Spartan and with NO tea/coffee facilities and 2 very small shower gel sachets to last us for for 4 showers. Luckily we had our own. The tiled floor made it feel cold so we had to turn the radiator on full to get warm. We had a nice, if expensive, dinner the first night and the staff were efficient except no-one spoke English as advertised. The room was not soundproof and we could hear the man next door coughing. The bed, 2 singles pushed together, was sort of comfortable but we had to cope with 2 separate, very narrow duvets which were a struggle to stay under. The worst thing, however, was upon paying the bill (just under 100 euros per night for 2 nights), we were made to pay for 2 breakfasts that we had not had, even though the price of which,7.90 Euros, WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE ROOM PRICE!!! IT WAS EXTRA!!! If the food was cooked for us and we didn't turn up, fair enough - but it was a typical continental bread, ham and cheese help-yourself cold buffet!!! The man at the reception desk said we should have told them the night before that we didn't want the breakfast, but this instruction was never mentioned. Therefore, a 2 night stay cost us 231.40 Euros, so as you can imagine, we most certainly will not stay there again. This will be to their disadvantage as we will be visiting the area again on a regular basis. Not at all happy with the experience of being ripped off!

Started off really well but..

We were amongst a party of friends who were spending the weekend in this village. The hotel was booked and on arrival we were allocated rooms which were quite pleasant along with the hotel itself and the surrounding area. We all had an very enjoyable evening meal and a couple of beers. Staff were friendly and efficient. A couple of our party had the breakfast whilst a number of us decided not to. HOWEVER on departure when we were checking out, we were informed that breakfast wasn't included in the price which is fine. Those that had breakfast duly paid. Unfortunately, those that didn't have the breakfast were also charged a total of €30,60, BECAUSE WE DIDN'T NOTIFY THE HOTEL WE WEREN'T HAVING BREAKFAST!!! Sneaky, disgusting tactics that make no sense whatsoever. We have regular gatherings in the area but because of the greedy attitude at check out, it's doubtful we'll stop here again. So a word of caution to travellers. If you have to visit this hotel, make sure you make it clear exactly what you do or don't want because if not, you run the risk of being charged for something you neither had or wanted in the first place.

Hotel and Travelbird : be aware!

You can book this hotel via Travelbird but be aware. It is cheap to book for staying with breakfast and 3 course meal included. When you arrive you will get the surprise (that is what the owner is calling it). He presents the possible upgrade for other 5 course meals but the extra cost is not mentioned in words (You can read them on the menu).You have to know that bread is counted as one course of the 5. Quality is rather basic and breakfast is always same. Some extra information : glas of wine is 6.40 Euro, Coffee with a cake is 10 Euro.
The rooms are on level of 3 star hotel, but wifi is only of good quality when in neighbourhood of reception, on the room you need to have luck.

Ich möchte mich entschuldigen, dass wir Sie nicht vollkommen zufrieden gestellt haben.
Sie haben im Internet ein sehr günstiges Paket gebucht, bei dem eine sehr einfache Standardleistung inkludiert ist, die Sie auch von uns bekommen haben. Wir bieten Ihnen lediglich für einen geringen Aufpreis zubuchbare Mehrleistungen an, die sicherlich den Aufpreis rechtfertigen. Des Weiteren servieren wir ein tägliches Frühstücksbuffet, das abwechslungsreich, aber als Buffet(!) natürlich fast immer gleich ist und bei diesem günstigen Preis keine exklusiven Produkte vorhält. Das Glas Wein in 0,2 Liter. kostet bei uns je nach Qualitätsstufe vom Wein zwischen 4,90 bis 6,40 Euro und ein Stück Torte (ist ein Unterschied zu Kuchen!) 4,90 Euro und das Kännchen Kaffee (mit 2 Tassen Inhalt) kostet 5,-€, also ein ganz normaler Gastronomiepreis in Deutschland.

Simple and reasonably priced, but for sure not ****

The advantages:
- directly on the main road and not far from motorway 46.
- not too far from the towns of Meschede, Warstein and Arsberg
- quite ok dinner and breakfast
The disadvantages:
- noise from the road
- noise from the kitchen
- only German spoken
- the room was too warm, but if we opened the window, the noise was even clearer
- very hard bed with extremely thin and soft pillow which gave us pain in the back and neck
- the ambiance at dinner and breakfast could be much nicer, now it's short of dentist full light
- no kettle in the room
- no idea how the **** are assigned to this hotel
