Stratospheric trip
We really enjoyed the experience, helpful service with excellent care of the rooms, good comfort and cleanliness, excellent pool maintenance, and great value for money. I highly recommend this choice!

Hotel needs renovations, old hotel. Okay to stay for a few nights as just a bed and shower. Extremely hard to find street parking spent multiple nights driving around block to find street parking.

The worst experience of my life
Extremely disappointing and completely unsuitable for a family stay
Our experience at San Anton was honestly horrendous. We booked expecting the accommodation shown in the listing, but what we experienced was completely different.
The room itself had serious cleanliness and maintenance issues. There was mould in the bathroom, what appeared to be vomit and urine stains, filthy floors and blood on the bed. The air conditioning unit also appeared to be held/supporting itself with a piece of wedged cloth or paper, which did not give us any confidence in its safety.
Outside was no better. The pool area had cockroaches, broken tiles and what appeared to be cannabis. There were wires hanging around the balcony area, and the balcony appeared to be being used as a smoking area, seemingly by workers. We were travelling with our 7-year-old child, so this was particularly concerning.
There was also what appeared to be mud all over the surrounding area, as though the place had been used after a football match, leaving the area looking dirty and neglected.
What made the situation even worse was the response when we raised our concerns. The host, who advised us that she was essentially the hotel manager, made comments which left us with the impression of “you get what you pay for.” We were also told, in relation to our concerns about the outside areas, that the outside didn't matter.
No, we were not expecting a five-star hotel. We knew what we had paid for. But paying less does not mean we should have to accept poor hygiene, unsafe conditions or an accommodation that is not suitable for a child.
The response made us feel that our concerns about basic cleanliness and safety simply weren't being taken seriously. The attitude was particularly disappointing given that we were travelling with a 7-year-old.
The accommodation did not feel clean, safe or suitable for us and our child. We ultimately had to find alternative accommodation at short notice, causing us additional expense, stress and disruption to our holiday.
This was not a case of the accommodation simply not being to our taste. There were multiple serious cleanliness, maintenance and safety concerns, and the accommodation did not match what we believed we had booked from the listing.
We would not stay here again and would strongly advise families, particularly those travelling with children, to look very carefully at recent reviews and the actual condition of the accommodation before booking.

Day by the pool not recommended
The hotel is outdated and definitely in need of refurbishment. The cleanliness throughout the property was also disappointing. The tiles around the sides of the pool are filthy and poorly maintained, and we hardly see anyone cleaning or maintaining the common areas . They seem to be short from staff.
Even the areas around the reception doors were filthy and gave a poor first impression. Overall, the hotel needs much better attention to cleanliness, maintenance, and general upkeep.

One of the worst hotels I have stayed.
We arrived late 27 July, checked in at reception and was asked to pay City tax per person. We were given keys to room which was a one bedroom supposed to be for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children).. The bedroom had 2 single beds and the sofa in kitchen was supposed to sleep 2 people which was tiny and so uncomfortable. Very noisy outside with guests sleeping and chatting around the pool at 3-4am. There is no air con in the kitchen/living area only in the bedroom. The bathroom was an absolute disaster with toilet right in the corner, shower was rubbish with a silly curtain every time you showered the floor was flooded and no pressure from shower. No wardrobes or drawers in bedrooms only a shelf space. No curtain in bedroom only a piece of chiffon material threw up on a curtain rail. No iron or ironing board, no brush to brush apartment, no clothes airer to dry clothes. The rooms were budget and basic but one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The bar on site is called Molly Malone's Irish Bar no more Irish than the man in the moon. Nothing Irish about it. This hotel would need massive refurbishments very grubby with dirty walls, no moderation at all, flies everywhere even in the restaurant. Most of the staff were nice, friendly and helpful with a few who could smile. Bugibba in general very dirty streets with rubbish lying everywhere and sewage smells. Disgusting. Would never return.
