Warm Hospitality, Superb Food, Unforgettable Setting

Mallard Cottage was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Newfoundland.
The cottage itself is beautiful, warm and full of character. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered — from the hand-painted “wallpaper” and lighting to the wonderful rustic touches (and even the ladies’ washroom!).
We sat at the bar and loved every minute of it. The staff were attentive, warm and genuinely kind, the drinks were exceptional — including Caesars topped with oysters — and the food was superb.
We also had the pleasure of meeting Blair and Stuart, whose warmth and generosity made us feel less like customers and more like guests. It turned a wonderful evening into one of our favourite memories of Newfoundland.
If you’re visiting St. John’s and have the opportunity to experience Mallard Cottage, do it. It is truly something special.

A perfectly curated stay

WOW. A perfectly curated stay. We were in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland for three weeks and this was our best lodging. The hosts have delivered on every detail from decor, to best-towels-ever (I’ve already ordered a set for home), to the counter top ice maker. Instead of a chocolate, there was a partridge berry tart with lemon curd

We had an awesome time at Mallard Inn. The rooms are newly renovated and beautifully designed. The property is a historic building right next to Quidi Vidi Wharf. As the property just opened under new ownership when we visited, there were minor hickups (like eg. a missing bin in the room) which have been quickly resolved by the attentive and friendly stuff. Parking on site is limited and extended dinner options require a car to go into town.
