Stunning views

Brela in mid May is a very very quiet beautiful village with many 'soft' pebble beaches along which there are attractive paths set along the coast amongst the pine trees. In the summer season we were told it is a great deal busier. Villa Dalmatino is a little way up the hillside near the centre of the village just a short walk to the harbour.
We booked the top floor 'comfort' apartment which is somewhat larger than any of the other apartments and has two large balconies with stunning views. It was very clean and well equipped with a large comfortable double bed [and two convertible sofas which we did not use], a kitchen alcove with a large fridge, four electric hotplates, coffee maker and sink unit. Plenty of cutlery, crockery etc but no electric kettle, oven or microwave. The bathroom has a very powerful electric shower with 'massage' sprays from the side as well as the normal overhead sprays. It did take quite a long time for hot water to appear but this could have been because we were on the top floor and also the only guests staying at the property at this time. Towels were provided but not dish cloths or any cooking consumables [Salt, cooking oil, washing up liquid etc.] WiFi was available but the signal was somewhat erratic.
A small supermarket and a chemist are just outside the villa and two more supermarkets, post office and bakery with a handful of other shops further down by the beach. There are a number of small restaurants by the pretty harbour - Konobo Feral was recommended by the helpful owner and we agreed with his advice.
Weather was perfect for our stay but imagine it would be much hotter in the season and then the noise from the air conditioning units belonging to a nearby hotel might be a nuisance if one was on one of the lower floors. Our only annoyance was a bulldozer re-arranging the pebbles on the beach for a couple of days!
It was well worth paying a little extra for the top floor apartment for the extra space and for the amazing views from the balcony. The downside is the number of stairs to climb to the third floor. Also be aware that there is a choice of a very steep or a slightly longer and less steep walk down to the beach [and back up again!] so anyone with mobility difficulties might have problems.
We loved this apartment and would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing 'do little' holiday on a very pretty part of this coast. One might find other cheaper places nearby - but for us, this was perfect.

Good location and sea views from balcony

Villa Dalmatino is in a great location – just a walk down the street, cut through the path and down the steps directly to the beach and just to the east of the marina. Perfect location.
Checking in -- It is difficult to figure out, without help, where to go when you arrive. There is a pizza restaurant on the first floor and we asked there where to find out how to check in. The woman there called someone associated with the hotel, who promptly came to greet us very pleasantly and warmly. However, she did not speak any English at all, nor did she seem to understand English, and even with our Croatian skills, being able to communicate effectively was challenging. She was very friendly and tried to be very helpful when we asked any questions; very nice person.
Check in is 3 pm; check out is very early at 9 am.
There is a small off street parking lot of 3-4 spaces – you need to reserve a space in advance. Very safe.
Room 31. Small, family owned (we are guessing) hotel with 3 floors and rooms / apartments of various sizes. 31 is on the top floor and is the largest apartment by far, with a bathroom, bedroom, living / dining area, and kitchenette. The best feature is the very large balcony with a large dining table and extra sitting space with wonderful sea views.
The living / dining / kitchenette area open to the balcony with sea views via a French door from the kitchenette (be careful to step over the door frame); and windows from the living area. The room is somewhat dark. The kitchenette is perfectly satisfactory in terms of being equipped; be careful not to touch the smooth stovetop as the burners will turn on and it is very difficult to figure out how to turn them off. There is no space for luggage anywhere – no luggage racks – so we ended up putting luggage on top of the dining table and the kitchen counters.
The bathroom is clean but very very small. The shower and bathroom floor are a very slippery gray tile, and water gets on the floor. Towels are small and thin (only 2 medium and 2 large).
The bedroom is very disappointing. It is very small and very dark; no windows and very spare, limited lighting. The closet is a built -in set of shelves and small hanging space (not long enough to be able to hang up a dress or a suit) that stretches up 2 stories so you cannot reach half of the closet; the doors are heavy and mirrored. The bed mattress is old and hard; the pillows are flat, cheap, and hard; the sheets and blanket are old, rough, and very thin. Sleeping was difficult; made more so by the fact that the AC, while it worked satisfactorily, was very noisy. There are no bathrobes or slippers. You can get new towels easily if you ask nicely.

Convenient location.

We lived in a room with a large balcony overlooking the sea. Nice views of the sea, the ability to lower the canopy if you want shade. Comfortable room. Minute walk to the beach. Not the first line, but the sound of the sea heard. Parking, internet, everything you need in stock. Of small flaws - the noise from the air conditioner of the neighboring large hotel (slightly interferes only if it is on the balcony) and delicious smells from the restaurant in the same villa))

Great little apartment a minute from the beach

We read about Brela in Lonely Planet and once we arrived, decided to stay two nights instead of island hopping to Hvar as the town is lovely and quaint, not too big and the beach is one of the best on the coast. We used Booking.com mobile app to find a place to stay and chose Villa Dalmatino based on its modern clean look and price. When we arrived in Brela we called the number on the sign outside the apartment and asked if they had any vacancies (we knew there was space via booking.com). The polite and helpful manager advised by phone that they didn't have any vacancies but when I mentioned booking.com he explained they couldn't sell us that room as it was exclusive to the reservation system. I suggested that perhaps I could I book it on my mobile and he agreed. It was a strange way to acquire a room but it worked!
We booked a one bedroom apartment on the ground floor for $59 euros per night. It was perfect! Modern, clean and all the amenities. Two lovely Croatian ladies arrived minutes after we completed the booking online and helped us with the paperwork and keys and although neither spoke English it all worked out great. We were provided the parking spot right beside our unit which was really nice as it has been mention parking is very difficult in Brela.
All in all a wonderful experience. Booking an apartment instead of a hotel room was a different experience, but was handled very professionally by the staff.
Only complaint is that free wifi is advertised but it is actually accessible in the cute cafe above the apartment. Coffee in the morning overlooking the sea and checking email was not a real inconvienence however.

There is better quality/price ratio in Brela

Stayed four nights with my wife and small child. The hotel is well situated a bit higher on the hill together with the Soline hotel. Brela-Soline beach is just 5 min walking although we quickly discovered much better beaches walking 10 min further on the right.
The house is quite new, no more than 10 years, and very well maintained. It contains several apartments with kitchen and toilet, and one or two rooms (didn't see any of those). The rooms are functionally design, nothing fancy, but comfortable. A big minus is the terrible noise that comes from the nearby Hotel's AC installation, this makes impossible sleeping with the balcony's door opened!
Our first intention was to see the village and choose some place to stay, but there is literally no place to park in Brela, all of them belong to private houses. We asked someone where could we park and the owner of the "Vila Dalmatino" kindly offered us to see their apartments and to park in their parking. We agreed in the price, 65 EUR night, and we decided to stay.
The full experience has been a bit bitter, we have soon discovered there are nicer and more comfortable houses near better beaches further on the right of Soline and even cheaper! less than 40 EUR night.
Nevertheless the worse has been the owner's behavior. She did not return to us the passports after the check in, after asking for them at least three times, she just returned two of them saying that "we would get the third after we pay on our departure for she had vary bad experiences in the past"
Last day I expressed her my disappointment for she is none to judge people and she is stealing her own's guests freedom. Maybe ridiculous feeling but she made me feel kidnapped at the "Hotel California" After that ugly detail and the fact that she extended us a bill in EUR (!), Croatian Tax Agency for sure gets no tax from that I guess..., I am very sure I am not coming back.

Nagyon jó elhelyezkedés
