Great place to stay with very friendly staff

Alessandra and her mum were so nice and friendly. I had a great stay at Hostal Katari. The rooms are lovely and bright and the view is wonderful. Alessandra even set up breakfast early for me when I had a tour starting early. The hostal is a very short walk into town and it is nice to be away from the busy centre. Alessandra's brother organises tours which were all great experiences and it was nice to be able to reserve them with ease. I highly recommend staying at Hostal Katari.

I do not recommend
Rooms are comfortable, with all necessary for a good night of sleep. Location is ok.
However, Staff is not friendly at all, they are all very rude. Not a 24h reception. Payment only in cash. The surroundings and the front is very dark at night - really don’t like that.
I do not recommend I would not stay again.

Overpriced

No hot water and WiFi doesn’t work in the room. For £65 per night this isn’t ok. Look elsewhere closer to town and you won’t be disappointed.
The positives are the breakfast and friendly staff but unfortunately this isn’t enough to warrant a positive review.

Incredibly Good Accomodation

The best and friendliest staff I have ever experienced! ... they were accommodating beyond the call of duty, and I will remember their friendliness in time to come. They also spoke good English. INCREDIBLY GOOD SERVICE!
The hostel is nicely located slightly out of the hustle of the main centre of San Pedro de Atacama, but a short and easy walk gets you to all of the areas of the town.
The accomodation is warm, tidy, and nicely kept. It’s worth remembering that this is a Hostal, and not a hotel... for a hostel, the standards are incredibly good.
They pre-arranged me a return airport transfer from Calama airport, before my arrival. The transfer service was of a good and reliable standard.

Amazing customer service

*Disclaimer - even though we booked this hostal, we didn't end up staying there due to unforeseen circumstances.
My boyfriend and I booked two nights at Hostal Katari. Due to an 11 hour bus ride that became a 40 hour bus ride (caused by road disruptions and heavy rains), we didn't arrive at the hostal at the designated time.
During this long journey, we updated Deborah from the Hostal Katari on these unfortunate developments when we had phone connectivity and she was generous enough not to charge us at all even though we booked a room for two nights.
Such considerate and kind behaviour will always get 5 stars from me.
