Abomey is important historic city

We visited Abomeys most important historic spots in two days in the quidance of Bakolo Tours in their car from Grand Popo. The trip was very well planned and the program interesting. We got a local quide, who knew a lot and answered all our questions.

Really average

Apart from the garden with its statues and some animals, nothing exceptional.
Rooms with medium comfort and no running water, namely before in order to get water in the bucket, otherwise surprised to take the shower.
Food and drink a little expensive.
A little personal anecdote: I got ripped off, (to say no more), by the son of the former boss who died today and whose name I will not mention...

Worth a visit

Super nice setting (park with wooden statues)
We did not stay at Chez Monique but we had dinner and breakfast. We eat well and drinks are reasonably priced
The staff is flexible and responsive: they do everything to make the customer happy

Great wooden art garden

We stopped here for lunch. It was a great experience to see all the wood carvings and art work made of wood displayed in a garden. The food was very late and was told this was normal. It’s worth going just to see all the great artwork from a very talented creator.

Clean basic rooms on interesting property

Hotel has well kept and interesting grounds and common areas. Rooms are very basic (no WiFi, no AC, no hot water) but it was large and clean. Restaurant was good and cheap. Biggest negative is still the animals kept in cruel living arrangements around the property. If it weren’t for that sad aspect, I would gladly give this place a solid recommendation.
