Excellent hostel, good service, and information about the snow-capped mountains, in a quiet area close to the center.

One month at monkey wasi

From October 20 2019 I stayed one month at monkey wasi hostel. Clean and warm beds, amazing community kitchen with gas and an boulder wall for the raini afternoons!
All who came to stay here immediately like the calm vibe.
It's like coming to THE homebase in huaraz!
Gustavo is a always helpful guy, he knows the area and the people, rents gear and gives information for free.
The rich breakfast is avaible at the hostel.
If you leave for treks you can store some of your luggage at the hostel.
As I stayed longer I could notice the community vibes from Gustavo's friends coming and going, leaving this nice atmosphere of changes and travel. And Negrita (perro, dog) and Inti (cato, cat) who are part of the home, just fun to have them around!
I highly recommend to meet Gustavo and to stay in monkey.

The best hostel in Huaraz if you want to climb

I stayed in Monkey Wasi for 45 days and I would recommend the place to everyone. If you are a rock climber and you want to meet people to go to one of the many spots that Huaraz has to offer, this is the place to be. From the chilling area you have a perfect view of Vallanaraju and Ranrapalca. It also has a bouldering wall for those lazy days when you just want to chill and train. When the hostel is quiet, Negrita (the dog) is the perfect company, she is soooo cute. Gustavo, the owner, is a relaxed and warm guy that will help you in everything you need. I left the place just a few days ago and I already miss it.

Sick climbing hostel

Came with my friend on a whim to this place - stayed for 3 months while we were climbing. Great community spirit here and very easy to meet people to climb, trek, alpine climb, or any other adventure you can dream up while in Huaraz. Would especially recommend this place to anyone who doesn't have a partner or a plan for Huaraz because you'll be able to figure something fun here.

Mountain lover Even

Arrived randomly in this place. Made so many friends, really chill place.
Definitely THE best hostel spirit I have been in Peru so far. Of course if you look for the 5 stars service you might be disappointed, it is pretty basic.. But that's what makes the charm of it. You come here to share fun moments, values and mountain experiences. People are really inclusive toward each other, if you travel alone you will not stay by yourself too long!
I staid almost 2 weeks, and would definitely come back.
GUSTAVO who runs the place is a really kind and Fun person. Strongly recommended!
